Amidst towering cypress groves that shade former rice plantations, Moncks Corner is a rural gem in the northern corner of Berkeley County. Historically a significant trade and transportation hub with its train depot and canal system, and now home to two Google data centers, Moncks Corner remains central to the vital flow of information that keeps our world humming.
Things to Do
Moncks Corner is unique in that it offers many different types of activities and things to do. Lake Moultrie is near by offering many opportunities for boating and fishing. Hunting is also a popular activity near by in the rural outskirts of the town. If you are looking for more history and beautiful gardens then you can also visit the Trappist Monastery, Mepkin Abbey. Cypress Gardens offers an intimate glimpse of a unique habitat featured in the movie, “The Notebook” and more. (Insider tip: It is currently close due to flooding damage but the community is working hard to support them reopening soon.) Old Santee Canal Park provides a unique view into our nations first canal as well as maintained grounds with live oak trees, wildlife and water foul.

Henry E. Bonner is a Pre K through 5th Elementary School northeast of town with more than 700 Students and almost 50 Teachers. It has recently become a Partial Magnet school. Their 2017 State Report card can be reviewed here.
Whitesville Elementary is a Pre K through 5th Elementary School that home to 1100 Students and nearly 70 Teachers. The schools 2017 State Report card can be viewed here.
Berkeley Intermediate School is a 3rd though 5th Elementary with almost 700 Students and 36 Teachers. You can review their 2017 Report card here.
BES is a Pre K through 2nd Grade Elementary school with approximately 700 Students and 46 Teachers. The schools 2017 Report card is available here.
A traditional 6th through 8th Grade Middle School, Berkeley Middle School serves over 1200 Students with 67 Teachers. The schools 2017 Report card is here.
Macedonia is a academic achievement, Title I 6th through 8th Grade Middle School and as a result has a smaller student population at approximately 350 with 22 Teachers. The schools 2017 Report card is available here.
BHS is a traditional 9th through 12th Grade High School located in Moncks Corner. It is attended by over 1500 Students who are taught by 100 Teachers.
