One of the region’s fastest growing municipalities, suburban Goose Creek was heralded as a “best place to raise kids” by Bloomberg BusinessWeek two years in a row (2011-2012) and most recently as one of the most affordable places in the state. As the most densely populated city in Berkeley County and home to the Naval Weapons Station, Goose Creek is family and neighborhood-oriented.
Things to Do
Goose Creek is a family friendly community with a lot of kid and family friendly neighborhoods and activities. If you love to golf then you will appreciate the Crowfield Golf and Country Club and it’s 7005 yard, Par 72 course that is centrally located in town. The City of Goose Creek hosts a number of events including Fabulous Forth in The Creek on the 4th of July, a Spring Concert Series in April at the Crowfield Golf Club, a Fall Festival in October and a Lakeside Light Display in December. Many residents are active outdoorsmen with hunting and fishing close by with the Goose Creek Reservoir.

The school will see rezoning changes in August 2018 when Bowen’s Corner Elementary school opens in Hanahan which should reduce the total size of the school. Mevers School of Excellence is a new tuition-free public charter school, which opened its doors for the 2017 – 2018 school year. Mevers School of Excellence is proud to offer education for students in grades K-7 with plans to include grade 8 in the future.

Homes and Builders
The city has many popular developments including Crowfield Plantation with Crowfield Golf Club and Cane Bay Plantation, which also features a Del Webb neighborhood attractive to active empty-nesters and retirees. Some of the region’s largest new developments, including Wildcat and Cane Bay Plantation, are underway in Goose Creek/Summerville/Moncks Corner area, and a full-service Roper St. Francis Hospital is under construction nearby.
